Middle-Aged Man went on Killing Spree in California; 3 Critically Injured and 2 Fatalities Reported in Ventura County

A 42-year-old man has been apprehended in relation to a series of violent incidents that resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others in Ventura County on Thursday, according to officials who spoke with KTLA.

According to Captain Dean Worthy of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the initial incident occurred around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Rice Road and East Channel Islands Boulevard, in an unincorporated area of the county’s western region.

Officials have reported that a 42-year-old resident of Camarillo, Alvin Otis Johnson, allegedly stabbed a 33-year-old man in a moving vehicle. The incident was witnessed by a 43-year-old woman.

The victim and witness got out of the vehicle once it stopped, while the suspect quickly left the scene.

The victim of the stabbing was quickly taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries.

Authorities received a 911 call for help in the 3400 block of Huerta Court in Camarillo, approximately 15 miles from where the deadly stabbing occurred, during a manhunt for Johnson.

“Simultaneously, while deputies were responding to this residence, a male showed up at the Camarillo Police Station and said that there was an assault with a deadly weapon that had occurred in the 3400 block of Huerta Court,” Cpt. Worthy explained.

The individual who reported the incident to Camarillo police, a 47-year-old, sustained minor injuries from being struck with a pistol by a suspect who was later identified as Johnson, the same individual connected to the deadly stabbing.

Deputies swiftly apprehended Johnson, who was found armed with a handgun, at the scene on Huerta Court.

Deputies discovered a 75-year-old woman inside the residence with serious injuries, the nature of which remains uncertain. She was promptly transported to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, she later passed away due to her injuries.

Inside the residence, the woman’s 78-year-old husband and a 51-year-old man were found. The man had minor injuries, possibly from a pistol-whipping.

Cpt. Worthy has stated that Johnson and the five victims have a connection and are likely part of the same social circles.

As the investigation continues and authorities work to uncover the motive, it is suspected that drugs may have played a role, although no definitive conclusion has been reached.

Authorities have stated that Johnson is expected to be booked on two counts of murder.
