Only weeks after an elderly man was reported missing, a burned car containing a deceased body was found in Olmsted County, Minnesota. The remains of 76-year-old Uong Ong, whose disappearance had previously sparked grave worries, are being investigated by authorities.

Discovery of the Burnt Vehicle

Around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies from the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding a burned-out vehicle in the Byron area’s 8000 block of Country Club Road West.

They discovered a deceased person in the driver’s seat of a car that had sustained extensive fire damage when they arrived on the scene. The car was registered to Uong Ong and was a 2004 Toyota Camry. The automobile appeared to have been in the neighborhood for a while, according to the authorities.

Missing Person Case

When Uong Ong’s family last saw him leaving his house in a bright blue Toyota Camry on December 3, 2024, he was reported missing.

After Ong left his house without his diabetes medicine, the Rochester Police Department issued a missing and endangered person alert. With every day that went by, the issue became more concerning as family members worried about his health.

Ongoing Investigation

Officials are still trying to identify the dead as part of the ongoing investigation. Although an autopsy has been performed, the definitive identification is still pending.

The Rochester Police Department and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office are working together to continue their investigation into the incident’s circumstances. As more information becomes available, more updates are anticipated.
