Mother of three found buried under Capitol Heights home, boyfriend charged with murder

George S. Prince County, MarylandWhen the body of 29-year-old Alexis Schuler, a missing mother of three, was found stashed beneath the stairs of her boyfriend’s Capitol Heights house, the hunt for her ended tragically. Devontae Gray, 30, is now accused of killing her after making a terrifying confession to law enforcement.

On January 10, Schuler and Gray left their house in Southeast Washington, D.C. The couple was seen on camera arriving at Gray’s residence on Larchmont Avenue that night. In the days that followed, Gray was shown on camera bringing and taking building supplies like chemicals, cinder blocks, and cement into and out of the house.

When officers carried out a search order at the residence on January 19, they found a plastic bin hidden beneath the stairs, hidden beneath layers of drywall, concrete, and plastic wrapping. After more research, blood was found in the shower and other building supplies that were in line with Gray’s recent activities.

Gray confessed to killing Schuler during an altercation while being questioned. According to the police, he built a mock tomb within his house in an effort to conceal the crime. The next day, he was taken into custody and is currently being charged with murder.

When Schuler’s family filed a missing person’s report on January 14, they characterized her as a loving mother whose top priority was to be with her three kids again.
