New Jersey’s Freehold. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Thursday that a Neptune Township police officer has been charged with unlawfully accessing law enforcement databases to collect a woman’s personal information.
Following an investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Responsibility Unit, Joshua A. James, 29, was charged with third-degree computer-related criminal activity.
According to the authorities, early this month James was on a security detail at a nearby elementary school when he witnessed a mother bringing up her child. According to reports, he obtained her home address by using her license plate to get access to databases that were prohibited.
According to officials, James then went to the woman’s home and allegedly asked her if she was single and got her phone number.
James has been placed on leave by the Neptune Township Police Department while the charges are being investigated.
