Trenton, New Jersey.A Mercer County obstetrician and gynecologist who is suspected of sexually abusing two long-term patients during medical examinations has had their license temporarily revoked by the State Board of Medical Examiners, officials revealed Monday.
By inappropriately touching two women at separate visits in 2023, Dr. Bruce Pierce, who worked at Delaware Valley OBGYN & Princeton Midwifery in Lawrenceville, is accused of committing serious negligence and professional misconduct. Following a hearing on November 13, the Board found evidence to support the claims and imposed the suspension.
Pierce allegedly called another patient to apologize for his behavior after dismissing a chaperone during an examination with another, according to the complaint filed by Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin’s office. It was claimed that Pierce’s guilt consciousness was demonstrated by text conversations he had with one victim, who had been under his care for over 20 years.
The Board concluded that Pierce’s continuing practice would present a clear and immediate danger to public safety after finding the claims to be credible, disturbing, and compelling. Until additional actions with the Office of Administrative Law are taken, the suspension will stay in effect.
Cari Fais, Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs, stated in a statement that no patient should ever have to worry about being sexually exploited on a doctor’s exam table.
While the Board considers Pierce’s case further, investigators are still working on it.
