Trenton, New Jersey. New Jersey morning commuters are experiencing a number of delays due to major interruptions caused by wrecks, emergency construction, and lane closures on important roadways.
Two right lanes have been shut due to a collision on NJ 495 eastbound just west of Pleasant Avenue in Union City as of 8:18 a.m., which is causing delays. Delays have been observed eastbound from the New Jersey Turnpike in North Bergen Township to Pleasant Avenue, further exacerbating problems on NJ 495. Travel times are currently estimated to be between five and ten minutes.
Emergency construction is still underway on NJ 10 westbound between Dover Chester Road and the area around Arrowgate Drive in Randolph Township. Drivers are urged to approach cautiously as one right lane is blocked for repairs.
In the meanwhile, there are several interruptions on the New Jersey Turnpike. As of 7:58 a.m., a disabled truck is obstructing one right lane in South Brunswick Township near Interchange 8A (NJ 32). One right lane has been blocked since 6:35 a.m. in Bordentown Township due to police and emergency personnel’s actions on the inner route heading north near Interchange 7 (US 206). In addition, the right shoulder has been obstructed in Westampton Township due to a collision and a car off the southbound road close to Interchange 5 (CR 541).
As of 6:21 a.m., a collision near Exit 14 (Leipzig Avenue) in Hamilton Township has resulted in a right shoulder closure on the Atlantic City Expressway westbound farther south. Drivers are reminded to yield to on-scene emergency personnel.
Travel times of five to ten minutes are also being recorded for delays on I-280 westbound from Harrison, east of the Stickel Drawbridge, to Exit 13 (Orange Street/1st Street) in Newark. Commuters on the Pulaski Skyway northbound are also facing delays, with comparable travel times, from Broadway to County Avenue in Jersey City.
To prevent significant delays, drivers are urged to exercise caution in impacted regions and, if at all feasible, arrange alternate routes.
