I must admit, I’m curious what New Year’s Eve in Times Square will look like this year. Will there be wall-to-wall bodies huddling in the cold, waiting for the ball to drop? Or will people be spaced out six feet apart under all the confetti?
I confess I’ll be snug in bed in front of the TV this New Year’s Eve, watching the aforementioned outcome for myself, but for those of you who are more adventurous, younger and well, party people, here is a listing of the happening places this December 31st in Clearwater.
No matter where you’re celebrating, I’m sure you’ll be wishing for a better year in 2021.
(Note: The Light it Up Clearwater midnight fireworks have been cancelled.)

If you’re like the owners and managers of small businesses which make up The District, you are SO ready to bid adieu to 2020!
It’s been a challenge for all of us – and many are grateful and breathing a sigh of relief that we made it ’til year’s end.
It’s only fitting that the 2020 send off song is the 1978 Gloria Gaynor hit, “I will survive.” For those of you who are counting, the song is now 42 years old (which makes it a “Gen X’er) and both SHE AND THE SONG will be featured in the NYC Times Square Ball Drop Celebration (no revelers allowed this year due to COVID).
However, YOU can join us in The District – for socially-distanced and safely-masked dining and music enjoyment.
From 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. on Thursday night / Friday morning, The District is pleased to host a DJ playing “age appropriate music.” Like the World Series, we’re once again bringing in a mobile LED TV Truck so everyone can enjoy the NYC Ball Drop . . . from a distance.
This event is free to attend and we encourage you to come in sit in small groups. Please feel free to bring your own tables, chairs and blankets to the safest seating.
Due to insurance and government regulations, no outside food or beverage is allowed in The District. However, Clear Sky on Cleveland has graciously donated the “bubbly” for a 2021 toast!
