Through early Wednesday morning, Utica, NYNorthern, and Southern Oneida counties are anticipating up to two feet of lake effect snow, high gusts, and hazardous driving conditions.
A Lake Effect Snow Warning is still in force in Binghamton from 7 p.m. on Sunday until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the local National Weather Service. Ten to twenty inches of snow are predicted to accumulate, with some areas in northwest Oneida County seeing up to two feet of snow. Particularly during Monday commutes, winds might reach 60 mph, resulting in whiteout conditions and dangerous travel.
In addition to potential power outages and tree damage, blowing snow and decreased visibility are predicted. In strong bands, snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected to vary from north to south until Tuesday evening.
If at all possible, residents are advised to stay away from travel. Bring emergency supplies including food, water, and a flashlight if you must travel. In the state of New York, dial 511 for the most recent road conditions.
