New York’s Weekend Forecast: Warmer Temps and Showers Expected for Veterans Day



New York, NY – A mild Friday in Western New York will set the stage for a Veterans Day weekend bringing above-average temperatures and possible rain. Residents should anticipate gradually clearing skies on Friday, with temperatures peaking at around 56°F in the Buffalo area. However, showers are expected to move in by Sunday, potentially disrupting outdoor holiday plans.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s forecast features mostly sunny skies by afternoon, thanks to a clearing cold front, and light winds, making it an ideal day for outdoor activities. Overnight lows will drop to around 46°F, with a calm night predicted.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will remain dry and partly cloudy, offering a mild 56°F high and low wind conditions. But by Sunday, conditions will change with a south wind drawing warmer air, raising temperatures to about 58°F and bringing an 80% chance of rain by evening. Showers are forecasted to linger into Veterans Day on Monday, with another high near 56°F. Those attending outdoor Veterans Day ceremonies should plan for wet weather and carry rain gear to stay dry.

The extended forecast shows a brief respite on Tuesday with sunny skies and a high near 52°F, but more rain may be in store midweek. Western New Yorkers should remain alert to changing forecasts, as temperatures remain warmer than usual for mid-November.
