Newark police seek public’s help identifying suspects in robbery


NEWARK, N.J. — The Newark Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two men wanted in connection with a robbery that took place near South 10th Street and 14th Avenue on October 8. Authorities report that the incident occurred around midnight as two victims exited a convenience store.

According to police, the suspects approached the victims and demanded money. One of the suspects, armed with a handgun, struck one of the victims in the face and head. Despite the assault, the victim refused to hand over any money, and the suspects walked away westbound on 14th Avenue.

As the suspects reached the 200 block of 14th Avenue, the armed suspect fired a shot, authorities said. Responding officers recovered a 9mm shell casing at the scene and spoke with the victims, who reported the robbery.


The first suspect, who was carrying the gun, was described as wearing all dark clothing and a black mask. The second suspect wore a red sweater and a blue mask.
