Woodleaf, NC – A North Carolina man, Jonathan Davon Freeman, 44, of Lexington, is in custody after allegedly killing his wife and another man, sending a photo of one of the victims to the victim’s spouse. Freeman is facing two counts of murder, according to jail records.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a 911 call at around 8:42 a.m. on Saturday from a woman who claimed her friend, Freeman, had sent her a picture of her husband, Bryan Burr, dead at their home on Old Oak Lane in Woodleaf, approximately 50 miles northeast of Charlotte. The caller also expressed concern that Freeman’s wife, Teri Freeman, might also be dead at the scene.
Deputies rushed to the residence and discovered the bodies of Burr and Teri Freeman, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jonathan Freeman remained at the scene and reportedly made incriminating statements in phone calls to others. After being taken into custody, Freeman allegedly confessed to detectives during a post-Miranda interview.
Authorities have not yet released a motive for the killings. Teri Freeman lived with Jonathan Freeman in Lexington, while Bryan Burr and his wife lived at the Woodleaf residence where the murders took place.
Freeman was arrested on two counts of murder and is currently being held without bond at the Rowan County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday. A probable cause affidavit was not immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities have requested that anyone with additional information contact Lt. Ryan Barkley at 704-216-8711.
