Nutley schools placed on brief lockdown during police investigation

NUTLEY, NJ. While authorities looked into an incident that occurred nearby, schools in the Nutley region were momentarily placed on lockdown Thursday. The Nutley Police Department stressed that no schools were ever in danger during the event and stated that the lockdown was a precaution.

“Once the investigation was concluded, the lockdown was lifted,” the department wrote on social media upon announcing the lockdown and the subsequent removal of the order. The incident’s specifics were not made public by the authorities.

No arrests or continuing threats pertaining to the probe have been reported by Nutley police. In its statement, the department aimed to reassure the public that local schools’ safety had not been jeopardized.

Although there were no reported disruptions to regular school operations after the incident, local schools, staff, and parents cooperated with law authorities during the brief lockdown.
