NYC Teacher Faces Charges for Reportedly Putting 5-Year-Old in Headlock at Elementary School

The police and other sources have stated that a teacher who is 46 years old was taken into custody on Monday after reportedly placing a youngster who is 5 years old in a headlock at an elementary school in Upper Manhattan.

According to the sources, the frightening occurrence that took place at PS 153 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Elementary School occurred just before 1:30 p.m., and the student who was hurt was sent to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

According to the police, the educator, Anthony Wicks, was brought into jail and accused with acting in a manner that was harmful to a child by the authorities.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged attack are not directly known at this time.

It is not the first time that a teacher in the Big Apple has been accused of assaulting a student while they were attending a public school.

During the month of September, a coach at James Madison High School in Brooklyn was charged with assault for allegedly hitting a kid’s head against a wall in the stairs. The student was 14 years old at the time.

According to the allegations, Coach Nicholas Nugent became enraged when the victim fell asleep while he was viewing a video review.

It was in March of 2023 when a teacher at the David N. Dinkins School in Jamaica, who was 33 years old at the time, was taken into custody on accusations of assault for allegedly assaulting a student who was 8 years old.
