NYPD seeks public’s help identifying suspects in armed robbery spree

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to identify individuals linked to a series of armed robberies involving two incidents in Manhattan and the Bronx. The incidents, which occurred in the early hours of September 16, involved groups of suspects on scooters who targeted multiple victims, brandishing firearms before stealing valuables.

In the first incident, reported within the 34th Precinct in Washington Heights, three men were outside 505 West 179th Street at approximately 12:55 a.m. when four unidentified individuals approached on scooters. The suspects displayed firearms and forcibly removed a necklace valued at around $3,500 along with other belongings from the victims. The suspects then fled southbound on Amsterdam Avenue. No injuries were reported.

A few hours later, in the 44th Precinct in the Bronx, another robbery took place under similar circumstances. At around 3:40 a.m., three men were near West 171st Street and Ogden Avenue when four individuals again approached on scooters, displayed firearms, and stole jewelry valued at approximately $13,000, along with other property. The suspects fled westbound on 171st Street, and, as with the first incident, no injuries were reported.

Police believe the same group may be responsible for both incidents due to the similarities in the suspects’ methods and descriptions. The NYPD has released images of the suspects captured from security footage and is urging anyone who recognizes the individuals or has information on the robberies to come forward.

Investigators are actively working to identify the suspects and prevent further incidents. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NYPD or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, with all tips remaining confidential.
