Oakland, New Jersey After an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and local authorities, a 36-year-old Oakland woman was charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said that Cecilia Murillo Viera had physically abused a minor under the age of sixteen, leading to her arrest on Sunday. A collaborative investigation was initiated after the Oakland Police Department initially reported the case to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said that Murillo Viera was arrested after the inquiry turned up evidence of physical assault. She is currently being charged with simple assault, a disorderly persons misdemeanor, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a kid.
Murillo Viera is awaiting his initial appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack after being remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
