Ocean County GOP Chairman Joins Long List of Republican Leaders to Support Sauickie, Clifton in District 12 Election

Assemblymen Rob Clifton and Alex Sauickie, who represent the 12th legislative district in the New Jersey Assembly, said on Thursday that they want to run for reelection in 2025. Supported by a group of elected officials, municipal chairs, and Republican leaders in Ocean County, the incumbents ran on a platform of tackling urgent local problems.

Both Sauickie, a Jackson resident serving his first full term following a 2022 special election victory, and Clifton, a six-time congressman from Matawan, stressed their dedication to addressing problems including excessive utility bills, overdevelopment, and tax burdens. According to Clifton, I am running for reelection in order to carry on my history of opposing these extreme policies and prioritizing people above rash ideologies.

Sauickie outlined his tenure’s achievements, which included infrastructure upgrades, school finance advocacy, and agricultural preservation initiatives. He expressed his gratitude for working with Clifton in the legislature and stated, “I am more excited than ever for the campaign ahead and another term fighting for common sense.”

A slate of Plumsted Township officials and Republican Club leaders, as well as Ocean County Republican Chair George Gilmore, State Senator Owen Henry, and the entire Jackson Township Council, have endorsed the Assemblymen. Their popularity inside the Ocean County GOP, a significant bastion in the district, is demonstrated by the lengthy list.

After winning a special election to serve out the remaining term of the late Assemblyman Ron Dancer, Sauickie made his first appearance in the legislature. He received 69% of the vote in 2022 thanks to the endorsements of Dancer’s widow and broad voter support.
