Ohio man indicted in South Carolina on charges of child exploitation and cyberstalking

Columbia, S.C. Federal prosecutors said Friday that a 21-year-old Ohio man had been indicted by a federal grand jury on six counts, including coercing and enticing juveniles, producing and disseminating material about child sexual abuse, and cyberstalking.

From August 2022 until October 2024, Jack Keegan Davis of Columbus, Ohio, is charged with targeting kids in several states, including South Carolina, using social media platforms. The indictment claims that Davis ran at least 130 social media display identities while pretending to be a kid in order to pressure victims into creating sexual content, which he reportedly shared with other minors, including one victim’s classmates.

Additionally, prosecutors claim Davis threatened and harassed at least one underage victim and their family using the material. Davis persisted in communicating with the victim and their family in violation of a restraining order, allegedly giving the victim’s home location and making violent threats such “I’m going to kill [Victim] and [Victim’s] family.”

After a contentious bond hearing, Davis was first held in Ohio before being taken into custody by FBI investigators. After that, he was taken to South Carolina, where he was placed under pending trial by U.S. Magistrate Judge Paige J. Gossett.

If found guilty of the creation of child sexual abuse material charge, Davis faces a required minimum of 15 years in jail and a maximum of life in prison for the coercion and enticement accusation. Fines, restitution, lifetime supervision after release, and possible registration as a sex offender are further sanctions.

With support from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio, the FBI Columbia Field Office, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case. The case is being prosecuted by U.S. Attorneys Ariyana N. Gore and Elliott B. Daniels.

For allegedly using a vast web plan to exploit children and threatening victims and their families with violence, a 21-year-old faces life in prison.
