Chesapeak, Virginia.According to Chesapeake Police, a van struck a stopped car on the shoulder of Military Highway late Tuesday night, killing one person.
Around 11:21 p.m., officers arrived at the scene of the collision in the 2600 block of Military Highway. Investigators said a car that had pulled over to the right shoulder of the road was struck by a van heading west. One person was inside the stopped car at the time of the collision, while two others were outside.
After being struck, one of the people outside the car was declared deceased at the site. Both the occupant of the car and the second person outside were sent to nearby hospitals for medical attention. They have not been liberated from their conditions.
The van’s driver was taken to a hospital as well. Their condition has not been divulged by the police.
The incident is being investigated by the Chesapeake Police Crash Reconstruction Team.

The deceased’s name has not been made public by the authorities until the next of kin has been notified.
The cause of the crash has not been disclosed, and no charges have been made in relation to it.
The event happened on a section of Military Highway where cars frequently stop for emergencies or mechanical problems. The reason the stopped car was on the shoulder when the collision occurred is unknown.
