Oxon Hill man arrested for fatal Laurel shooting over family dispute




Laurel, M.D.Prince George’s County police said Wednesday that a 31-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with murder in relation to the shooting death of a Laurel resident.

Oxon Hill resident Darius Jackson is charged with shooting and killing Jerome Stocks, 58, in the 12000 block of Silverbirch Lane on the evening of November 26. Stocks was outdoors with gunshot wounds when officers arrived on the scene at around 9:05 p.m. At the scene, he was declared dead.

Jackson was promptly named as the suspect by detectives, who attributed the crime to a fight involving a victim’s relative. Investigators found that Stocks and Jackson knew one another.

Jackson is currently being held at the Department of Corrections after being captured by the Fugitive Unit of the Prince George’s County Police Department. In addition to related counts, he is charged with first- and second-degree murder.
