Paterson issues extreme heat warning as temperatures hit 100 degrees, cooling center opens

NJ’s PATERSONWith local temperatures predicted to hit 100 degrees, the Paterson Police Department has issued an excessive heat warning, advising citizens to take safety precautions during the continuing heat wave.

The public is being advised by authorities to limit time spent in direct sunshine, remain hydrated, and refrain from physically demanding outdoor activities. It is advised that people who must go outside dress comfortably and look for shade whenever they can.

The city has built two dedicated cooling centers to help people. Water will be available for individuals in need at the Northside Library at 60 Temple Street and the Paterson Main Library at 250 Broadway, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
