Pit bull stigma leaves gentle dog stuck in shelter

Jackson, New Jersey.Staff are now making a renewed effort to locate Saphie a permanent home after she silently waited for one amid a crowded shelter and little volunteer time.

Saphie, a black pit bull mix that is thought to be between three and four years old, has been at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility in Jackson for a considerable amount of time. She is frequently ignored, according to volunteers, which is a usual occurrence for black-coated dogs in shelters.

According to the crew, she strolls around the paths with grace, occasionally turning around to make sure you are still with her. Saphie is loving, enjoys being petted, and contentedly lounges with guests in shady spots, particularly when food are offered.

Saphie is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccines, according to shelter assessments, however she does not resource guard. Volunteers say she thrives in peaceful, affectionate environments and would be a good fit for homes with older children, even though she would like to be the only pet and avoid being around other dogs.
