Charlestown, Massachusetts Around 11:00 p.m., police officers on patrol near Polk Street and Bunker Hill Street spotted a car speeding past a stop sign. After pursuing the car and seeing it run another stop sign, the officers pulled it over near Chelsea Street and Vine Street.
After identifying the car’s driver and passenger, the officers made the decision to look into the matter more. They decided to perform a pat-frisk for firearms and told both people to get out of the car.
The passenger resisted the frisk by trying to escape and putting his hands in his hoodie’s front pocket. Police apprehended him after a scuffle and discovered a 9mm Ruger Max-9 gun with nine bullets in the magazine and one in the chamber.
The 17-year-old traveler was taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment in Charlestown District Court on charges of unlawful firearm possession, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, unlawful ammunition possession, and resisting arrest. The driver was given a penalty for speeding and failing to stop at stop signs.
