N.Y. SCHENECTADY.Authorities in Schenectady are looking into a Tuesday morning incident in which a masked person in a grey car followed an 11-year-old girl as she walked to school.
Police said the incident happened around 8:40 a.m. close to Albany Street and Winston Place. The child, a Central Park Middle School student, claimed that the car’s driver, who was thought to be a man, followed her for several streets while making multiple motions for her to get inside.
The girl declined and went on to school without getting hurt, quickly informing school authorities about the incident. After being called, police were able to identify the car that was involved.
The suspect’s identification is still being investigated, and anyone with more information is urged to call the Schenectady Police Department Tips Line at 518-788-6566.
According to police, there have been no more complaints of suspicious conduct involving the suspect or the vehicle.
The safety of the local students is being constantly monitored by the police.
