A man found guilty of sex trafficking and exploiting minors has escaped from Washoe County, as reported by the district attorney’s office.
Reginald Ellis, 37, was last spotted around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday as he awaited the verdict in his jury trial, according to the DA’s office.
Ellis has been convicted on three counts: sex trafficking a minor under 16, trafficking a minor under 14, and child abuse related to sexual exploitation. In January 2023, Ellis was released on his own recognizance, a decision that faced objections from the DA’s office at that time.
In June 2022, Ellis was taken into custody following an investigation conducted by the Human Exploitation and Trafficking team. A 16-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital, prompting initial contact with HEAT. Authorities discovered that Ellis was exploiting and abusing the girl while preparing her 14-year-old sister for sex trafficking.
If you have any information regarding Ellis, please reach out to the Reno Police Department at 775-334-2121.
