Newark, New Jersey.According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, authorities are requesting the public’s help in identifying a man who was seen on security footage shooting a gun into the air on October 21.
According to authorities, the gunshot happened in the 30 block of Arsdale Place at approximately 6:45 p.m. Officers responded to the scene after the city’s shot spotter system recorded a single gunshot. Police found no injuries or property damage, but they did retrieve a spent shell casing.
The suspect, a Black man, was last saw turning north onto Grand Street after traveling east on Arsdale Place. Authorities said he was dressed in dark-colored jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt, and a blue cap.
Emanuel Miranda Sr., director of public safety in Newark, has asked locals to help identify the person. The Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line is open to anyone with information, the department said. Tips from anonymous sources may be rewarded.
