QUEENS, N.Y. — After a three-and-a-half-year investigation into gang violence in Southeast Queens, authorities announced Wednesday that eleven suspected members of two violent street gang subsets have been indicted on charges including conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and reckless endangerment.
The defendants are suspected of taking part in nine shooting events between March 2021 and December 2022. They are alleged members of the Whole Blocc Boys and Score On Anything, two factions of the 8 Trey Movin Crips. Five victims, including one who was crippled, were injured in the violence, which prosecutors said was a part of an ongoing turf dispute.
According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, these individuals are charged with attempting to murder their gang rivals in order to incite frantic bloodshed in their local communities. We cannot and will not allow careless gang warfare to take over our streets.
Seven defendants, including suspected leaders Alphati Havoc Tanis and Trevor T3 Bailey, are charged with first-degree conspiracy and could be sentenced to life in prison. On a 57-count indictment, five suspects were arraigned Tuesday; the others are either at large or awaiting arraignment.
According to the indictment, the defendants planned egregious shootings in parks and playgrounds, frequently close to schools. In one instance, children and families were present during a gunfight at Daniel M. O. Connell playground in June 2021. Another happened next to an elementary school in September 2022, injuring a rival gang member.
In the course of the inquiry, eleven guns were confiscated. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and other law enforcement officials reaffirmed their dedication to curbing gang activity and maintaining public safety.
Following years of gunshots in public areas, Queens officials are working to dismantle dangerous gangs.
