Reading Police donate ready-to-eat meals to local rescue mission


Pa, READING. As part of its continuous community service, the Reading Police Department stated that it has donated a supply of ready-to-eat meals to the HOPE Rescue Mission.

On Tuesday, RPD Pastor Camacho, Officer Sanchez, and Chief Richard Vazquez delivered the meals, also known as MREs, to the group on behalf of the department. In addition to thanking the mission for helping those in need, the department posted the news on social media.

We are immensely appreciative of your generosity and dedication to our community, and your assistance [for] HOPE Rescue Mission significantly improves the lives of those in need,” the agency said in a statement.

For those who are homeless in Berks County, HOPE Rescue Mission offers food, shelter, and support services. The police department honored Rob Turchi, the mission’s CEO, Food Services Director Connie Kohler, and Light House Shelter Manager Maritza Vargas for their commitment and leadership.
