Washington, D.C. An investigation into a string of car break-ins that happened Friday morning in many First District areas is focused on a red Ford Explorer.
The first incident involved people breaking into a car and stealing items in the Unit block of K Street, Northeast, at around 8:41 a.m. In the 400 block of 12th Street, Northeast, two suspects allegedly broke into another car at 9:09 a.m., took something, and then drove off in the red SUV.
At 9:37 a.m., a third car break-in was reported on Southeast’s 200 block of D Street. Officers found a broken car window, but they haven’t been able to find out if anything was taken.
A neighboring surveillance camera captured images of the suspects and their car, and the Metropolitan Police Department has made the material public in an attempt to identify the perpetrators.
