Robbery at Newark service plaza under investigation by state police




Newark, Del. An early-morning heist at the Service Plaza on John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway occurred Thursday, and the Delaware State Police are looking into it.

At approximately 4:52 a.m., according to the authorities, an unidentified male suspect broke into an unlocked tractor-trailer in the parking lot. The suspect confronted the driver as he was getting back into the car, brandishing a knife, took the driver’s stuff, and ran away.

According to a police statement issued Friday, the motorist was not hurt in the collision.

The investigation is being led by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit, which is encouraging anyone with information about the crime to come forward.
