According to officials, a pregnant mother went into labor on the side of the road Monday, in the midst of a storm, and three rookie Suffolk County police officers assisted in the delivery of a baby girl.
According to a news release from the Suffolk County Police Department, the new officers were called to the scene at 6:11 p.m. to report a woman in active labor on the side of Sunrise Highway in Shirley, Long Island.
While trapped in her Honda Accord in torrential rain, Seventh Precinct officers Joseph Lacey, Brendan Nappi, and Jonathan Verity hurried to the scene and assisted the 37-year-old woman in giving birth to a baby girl safely.
