Salt Lake City Braces for Snow: Wind Gusts Over 40 MPH Expected Sunday

Utah’s Salt Lake City Beginning Sunday evening and lasting throughout the first part of next week, Utah will see snow and high winds due to a winter storm.

The Salt Lake City National Weather Service predicts that on Sunday, strong southwesterly winds will build up to 40 mph in the West Desert. The mountains will start to see widespread snowfall by Monday morning, and valley rain is also anticipated.

Snowfall on Monday may affect commutes in the morning and evening, particularly in higher elevations. The Wasatch Back and southwest Wyoming will continue to see snow on Tuesday, with overnight taper-off. Minor accumulations may occur in certain lower valleys.

As the storm moves out on Tuesday, wrap-around snow showers might occur, with heavier accumulations possible in some locations. Travelers should be ready for shifting weather, sloppy roadways, and decreased visibility.

Residents are advised by officials to often check predictions and factor in additional travel time during periods of high snowfall.
