N.Y. SCHENECTADY.According to the Schenectady Police Department, a 29-year-old Niskayuna man has been taken into custody in relation to a hit-and-run that occurred early on Wednesday morning and left a 41-year-old lady critically injured.
The incident happened at the intersection of Union Street and Nott Terrace at around 1:18 in the morning. According to the police, the victim was hit by a car while out for a stroll and was discovered laying in the road when they arrived. The Schenectady Fire Department provided on-scene treatment, and Mohawk Ambulance took her to Albany Medical Center, where she is now in critical condition.
Before police could arrive, Richard I. Gordon, the driver of the striking vehicle, left the area. The vehicle, a 2024 Tesla registered to Gordon’s residence in Niskayuna, was identified following a cooperative investigation by the Niskayuna Police Department, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, and the Schenectady Police Department’s Traffic Division. Gordon was later contacted by officers and placed under arrest.
