Scratch-off routine pays off big for Maryland retiree

Hagerstown, Maryland.Following his particular rule to always purchase two of the same ticket, a guy from Washington County who never spends more than $20 on lottery tickets won $100,000 last week.

Two $5,000,000 Fortune scratch-offs were bought by the retired county employee at Wooden Keg Liquors on Jefferson Boulevard in Hagerstown. Although the $50 tickets were expensive, he had been saving for them for days.

He claimed the reward on Monday, saying, “I was ready because I had been thinking about it for a couple of days.” His $50 was refunded for the first ticket. When scratched at home, the second one continued to disclose $5,000 prizes. They were so numerous. He claimed that they simply kept adding up. The sum was $100,000.

He described the event as emotional and claimed that the win provided all the information he needed to plan for retirement, leaving him with enough money to give to others.

Big wins still available in Fortune game

Since the debut of the $5,000,000 Fortune ticket in February, none of the three top prizes of $5 million have been claimed. Eight $50,000 third-tier prizes and six $100,000 second-tier prizes are still up for grabs.
