New Jersey’s Seaside Heights.Although no weapon was eventually discovered at the scene, Seaside Heights police responded to a suspected firearm threat at a property on Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday night.
After midnight, a 911 call was made to 328 Hamilton Avenue, which is where the incident started.
According to a caller, someone threatened cops while brandishing a gun. When officers arrived on the location, they viewed the scenario as potentially hazardous and armed.
When responding cops arrived, they coordinated and moved slowly toward the scene. Police were able to hear background activities because a woman who was later identified as the caller allegedly kept her phone line open. She informed police that the alleged threat-maker had already departed the house.
A person of interest who was allegedly accompanied by many unidentified individuals was identified by the responding police. According to officers, the group was spotted going north on Hamilton Avenue and consisted of three Black men, one of whom was wearing a ski mask, and one Black woman.
When officers confronted the gang, no firearms were discovered.
Police arrested and interrogated people who fit the description. After a field investigation, authorities concluded the group was not involved, despite radio transmission confirming they were spotted leaving the house.
Although authorities have not yet determined whether charges would be brought in relation to the initial call, the incident is being investigated as a potential swatting or false report.
