WEST CHESTER, PAA According to investigators, a 27-year-old male from Brookhaven has been taken into custody and charged with a number of burglaries in the West Chester region, including stealing a police officer’s badge and body armor.
After being arrested on January 14, Lawrence Dass is charged with five counts of burglary and other offenses. Dass is being jailed at Chester County Prison after Magisterial District Judge Marian Vito set bail at $50,000. The date of the preliminary hearing is set for January 21.
The investigation, which started in August 2024, identified Dass as the suspect in several local burglaries using DNA, fingerprint evidence, and video surveillance. Theft of a badge and body armor from a West Chester Police patrol cruiser was one of the instances connected to him.
Detectives are still investigating if Dass is linked to any other burglaries, West Chester Borough Police Chief Joshua Lee stressed. Many law enforcement agencies, including Chester County Detectives and local police departments, cooperated with the investigation.
