Seven Charged in Child Abuse Ring Run From an Alabama Bunker, Officials Say

A sheriff described the child abuse case that officers discovered in a remote area of Bibb County, located in central Alabama, amid pine forests and dirt roads, as the most unsettling he has ever seen in his 33 years of law enforcement.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, a criminal operation including sex trafficking, torture, and the stealing of innocence resulted in the injuries of at least ten children within a concrete bunker next to a residence.

According to police, one of the victims was fifteen years old, while the majority were between three and ten.

Sheriff Jody Wade stated, “I know God’s forgiveness is limitless, but if there was a limit, I think we’ve reached it.” She described the acts as unfathomable and the kind that undermine trust in human nature.

Sheriff Wade said during a news conference on Wednesday that seven individuals, including parents and family members, were charged in relation to the trafficking operation in Brent, Alabama, a 2,600-person city approximately an hour south of Birmingham, where children were injured in the underground bunker.

According to Sheriff Wade, the accusations include sexual abuse, rape, sodomy, and human trafficking. They charged five males and two women.

“I’m afraid there will be a lot more suspects and more victims,” he stated.
