Sex Offender Warrant Leads Police to Pounds of Weed

Pittsburgh, PA – A search for a wanted sex offender led to the confiscation of multiple pounds of suspected marijuana and other drugs. Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced the developments concerning a Duquesne man facing several drug charges.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office learned that Andre Gray, 58, who was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender, might be at a residence on Auriles Street. On Thursday evening, detectives encountered Mareio Gray, 45, at the location. Mareio told them that Andre did not live there but allowed them to search the premises.

While searching, detectives observed bags of suspected marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and other drug paraphernalia in plain view. After concluding that Andre Gray was not present, detectives secured the property and obtained a search warrant to investigate further.

Upon executing the search warrant, authorities confiscated over six pounds of suspected marijuana and a half pound of suspected hallucinogenic mushrooms, along with other items. Mareio Gray was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and charged with multiple drug offenses. Andre Gray was later found at a relative’s residence on Wool Street.
