Gaithersburg, MarylandKofi Aidoo, 32, of Silver Spring, was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Department of Police, the Prince George’s County Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on charges pertaining to firearms, including unlawful possession of a firearm.
Before serving a residential search warrant in connection with this case, MCPD officers positioned outside the Glenmont United Methodist Church in the 12900 block of Georgia Ave on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with assistance from Prince George’s County Police and the ATF. Aidoo is charged with taking a weapon from a Prince George’s County firearms range.
Officers found a handgun while carrying out the search warrant, and Aidoo was safely taken into custody.
Questions concerning the presence of law enforcement in the neighborhood have been directed to MCPD. The behavior had nothing to do with enforcement or immigration status; it was solely dedicated to this criminal inquiry.
