MINEOLA, N.Y. — A Queens man who worked as a disc jockey for Sirius XM was sentenced to eight years in prison on Wednesday for his role in a narcotics trafficking scheme that moved cocaine and fentanyl from California to Nassau County. Lance Holmes, 42, known as DJ Love Dinero, pleaded guilty in March to charges of Operating as a Major Trafficker, Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, and Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree.
Holmes was sentenced by Judge David Sullivan to eight years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the sentencing, detailing Holmes’ involvement in a trafficking operation that exploited the postal system with the help of mail carrier Adrianna Lewis.
“Lance Holmes played a major role in moving multiple kilos of cocaine and fentanyl from the West Coast right into our Hempstead community, disguising his illicit activity by exploiting our mail system with the help of a postal carrier,” Donnelly said. She added that Holmes and Lewis had coordinated the mailing of drugs to unsuspecting residents’ addresses, where Lewis intercepted the packages and delivered them to Holmes for a fee of $500 per parcel.
The operation, dubbed “Operation Honeycomb,” began unraveling in March 2021 when federal agents from the FBI Long Island Gang Task Force and the ATF Long Island Firearms Task Force executed numerous search and arrest warrants. The investigation revealed that drugs were being shipped from Southern California in medium flat-rate postal boxes to addresses on Lewis’ postal route in Hempstead.
Law enforcement intercepted several packages, using K9 units to confirm the presence of narcotics. In one instance in June 2022, Holmes contacted the postal office inquiring about a package containing two kilograms of cocaine, which had been seized before reaching its destination.
During the investigation, authorities seized a total of ten kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of fentanyl. Holmes’ co-conspirator, Lewis, 33, of Rockville Centre, pleaded guilty in December 2023 to Criminal Facilitation in the Second Degree and was sentenced to five years’ probation in February.
The people at the addresses used in the scheme were unaware of the drug shipments, according to investigators. Donnelly emphasized that her office, alongside federal and local partners, would continue efforts to dismantle narcotics pipelines into Long Island and prosecute those involved.
