BROOKLYN, NY During the holiday season, Brooklyn saw a number of violent robberies, including at least six knifepoint crimes, according to the New York City Police Department. These occurrences occurred between December 23, 2024, and January 3, 2025.
In the first instance, an unidentified person flashed a knife, took goods from a store at 1567 Flatbush Avenue, and then rushed away on December 23 at around 1:10 a.m. There were no reported injuries.
At the Newkirk Avenue-Nostrand Avenue subway station, four days later, on December 27 at 5:18 p.m., a 29-year-old woman was attacked by four unidentified individuals on a northbound 2 train. The woman was physically abused by the attackers, who also took her cellphone and brandished a knife. Despite having minor injuries, the woman refused medical attention.
Two unnamed suspects confronted a 37-year-old victim inside 2064 Nostrand Avenue on December 30 at 9:20 p.m., brandished a knife, and demanded goods. The perpetrators did not injure anyone as they fled on foot.
As the year went on, the violence persisted. At 3:23 a.m. on January 1, four people attacked two victims at 222 East 28th Street, shoving them against a wall and pointing knives at them. Before escaping, the suspects took two phones and credit cards.
Two hours later, at 5:20 a.m., an attacker repeatedly struck a store employee at 1567 Flatbush Avenue before brandishing a knife and stealing goods. Despite having minor injuries, the 22-year-old victim declined medical help.
The most recent incident was outside 2064 Nostrand Avenue on January 3 at 11:08 p.m., when a 52-year-old man was threatened with a knife. Before fleeing, the suspect snatched money and food. There were no reported injuries.
Four suspects, all of whom have dark complexions and are between the ages of 15 and 20, have been described by police. According to reports, one of the female suspects was dressed in a black jacket, blue trousers, white sneakers, and a black bonnet when they were last seen.
The community is still on edge after the surge in violent robberies, and the NYPD is actively looking into these instances.
