It is a massive site from the Byzantine era that includes a monastery with a complex mosaic floor, an advanced winepress, and a sizable storehouse. A Greek biblical inscription from Deuteronomy that is carved into the mosaic serves as the focal point of the discovery. It reads, “Blessed are you when you come in and blessed are you when you go out.” Researchers have been astounded by the site’s size, historical significance, and abundance of surviving artifacts since it was discovered in the fifth or sixth century C.E.
