Suspect arrested after alleged armed robbery involving rideshare bike in D.C.


WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 45-year-old man was arrested after allegedly robbing a woman at knifepoint in Northeast Washington, fleeing with her rideshare bike, police said Sunday.

The incident unfolded around 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, near the intersection of First and M Streets, NE. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect approached the victim as she completed payment for a rental bike, brandished a knife, and demanded the bike from her.

Following a quick search of the surrounding area, officers located a man matching the description of the suspect and took him into custody. Police identified the suspect as Antonio Chappell, who has no fixed address.


Chappell now faces a charge of armed robbery (knife) in connection with the incident.
