Suspect arrested in brutal Division Avenue stabbing that left young man dead

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Northeast D.C. woman has been charged with murder following a deadly stabbing that unfolded in broad daylight on Division Avenue in September, leaving a 23-year-old man fatally wounded and another woman injured.

The incident occurred on Sept. 1 around 2:53 p.m., when a man suffering from stab wounds arrived at the Sixth District police station, desperately seeking help. The victim, identified as Gray Hall, was transported to a nearby hospital by DC Fire and EMS, but he was later pronounced dead after all lifesaving efforts failed.

Back on Division Avenue, officers located a second victim, an adult woman, who had also been stabbed. She was transported to the hospital with injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening.

Following weeks of investigation, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 40-year-old Shameka Jackson of Northeast D.C. on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Jackson now faces a charge of second-degree murder while armed, according to police.

This arrest marks a significant development in the case, which drew attention due to the violence of the attack and the death of a young Northeast resident.
