Suspect Arrested in North Carolina for Murder of Maryland Woman

Leland, North Carolina After receiving a tip from a civilian, Raheem Hawkins-Boseman, 23, of Silver Spring, was arrested for the murder of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville. The U.S. Marshals Service and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office assisted in his capture late Wednesday night near Leland, North Carolina.

Officers responded to a shooting on Silver Hill Road on March 17 at approximately 2:15 a.m. Somerville was shot and declared dead at the scene after being discovered outside a shop. On March 19, the Prince George’s County Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Hawkins-Boseman.

According to preliminary findings, Hawkins-Boseman shot Somerville during a parking lot confrontation after pursuing her from a fast-food restaurant. It was found that before the encounter, the victim and suspect were strangers.
