Teacher’s Aide Charged After Alleged Assault on Special Needs Student

White Oak, PA – A teacher’s aide has been charged following an incident at Francis McClure Elementary School in White Oak, according to the Allegheny County Police Department. The General Investigations Unit investigated a report alleging the aide assaulted a 5-year-old male student with special needs.

The investigation determined the incident happened on the playground on November 7 at around 11:45 a.m. Video footage shows the aide, identified as 53-year-old Amy Kevicki, grabbing the child by the neck and pushing him to the ground. Kevicki then ignored the child and walked towards the building. No injuries were reported.

After working with the district attorney’s office, detectives have charged Kevicki with misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, and summary harassment.
