Teen arrested in East Capitol Street shooting of 15-year-old

Washington, DC Police said Thursday that a 17-year-old man has been taken into custody in relation to a shooting in Southeast Washington, DC, on November 22 that injured a 15-year-old.

The event happened in the 1700 block of East Capitol Street SE at around 9:42 a.m. The victim, a male 15-year-old, fled to Eastern High School for help after detectives concluded the shooting occurred in an alley behind an apartment complex. The teenager had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force in Prince George’s County on Wednesday, January 8. The teen was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun) in a DC Superior Court Custody Order, which led to the arrest.

Police are still investigating this case and are requesting that anyone with information call (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. For information that results in an arrest and conviction, a reward of up to $10,000 is being given.
