Teen Girl Rescued After Shocking Kidnapping Incident in DC

Washington, DC – An armed kidnapping in Northwest DC has prompted the Metropolitan Police Department to ask for community assistance in identifying the suspect involved.

On September 26, 2024, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to reports of a fight in the 1300 block of Longfellow St NW. Upon arrival, officers found a black SUV and a gray sedan parked in the street with open doors and at least three suspects present.

When officers approached the vehicles, both suspects fled the scene, with the SUV striking several cars, including a marked MPD cruiser. During the investigation, it was reported that a teenage girl was forcibly taken into one of the fleeing vehicles, which led authorities to activate an AMBER alert.

Later, at around 1:10 p.m., MPD detectives and federal law enforcement partners spotted the kidnapped teenager and a masked male exiting a residence in the 700 block of 31st Street, Southeast. They entered a car and fled, leading to a pursuit that ended in a minor traffic collision in the 4200 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. The male driver escaped on foot, but officers confirmed that the teenager was safe and unharmed; she was transported to a hospital as a precaution.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the fleeing driver, which may assist in the ongoing investigation. The video can be viewed here: Watch Here.
