Teen shot in leg in Far Rockaway, suspect fled on scooter

Queens, New York. According to authorities, the shooter fled the scene on a push scooter after shooting a 16-year-old boy in the leg Wednesday afternoon in Far Rockaway.

The gunfire happened close to Beach 51st Street and Beach Channel Drive at approximately 4:39 p.m. Investigators said that the unnamed suspect fired one bullet, hit the adolescent in the right leg, and then ran off in an unspecified direction.

After being taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, the victim’s condition was classified as stable.

Suspect remains at large

The culprit has not been taken into custody as of Thursday. Other than the fact that a push scooter was used in the escape, no description was immediately available.

The NYPD is looking over local surveillance footage as part of their ongoing investigation into the shooting.
