Teen suspect caught following armed robbery and chase in D.C.


WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday night after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint in Southeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident occurred around 6:33 p.m. on November 5 in the 3300 block of Croffut Place, Southeast. Police say the suspect approached the victim in a vehicle, exited while brandishing a handgun, and demanded the victim’s belongings. After the victim complied, the suspect fled the scene in the same vehicle.

Shortly afterward, MPD’s Air Support Unit tracked down the suspect vehicle in the 5000 block of B Street, Southeast. Officers arrived on the scene, detained one suspect, and recovered a firearm.


The teen, a Southeast D.C. resident, faces charges of armed robbery and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Police have not released information on the second occupant of the vehicle as the investigation remains ongoing.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the case to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips anonymously to 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information leading to arrests and convictions in violent crimes across D.C.
