After allegedly impregnating a 16-year-old girl and disposing of the baby in a gas station dumpster after she gave birth, a guy from Tennessee has been charged with numerous offenses.
A grand jury on Wednesday accused 45-year-old James Boothe on two counts of trafficking for commercial sex acts, encouraging prostitution among those aged 12 to 18, persistent child sexual abuse, and aggravated statutory rape.
When officers responded to a suspicious call in the Flairwood Apartments, located in the 3100 block of Teakrock Lane, at approximately 9 a.m. on January 27, Memphis police started their investigation.
According to a criminal complaint, a 16-year-old girl flagged down police officers upon arrival and informed them that she had been dropped off by her buddy, “James,” approximately two hours after giving birth. The individual was eventually identified by police as Boothe.
The girl informed police She went into labor, so Boothe was taking her to the hospital. She gave birth to a girl while they were driving.
At 1312 E. Shelby Drive, the teenager claimed that Boothe removed the infant from the seat, wrapped the body in a black plastic bag, and disposed of the remains in a garbage container near a Shell gas station.
According to what the police noted, she claimed to have had a “relationship” with Boothe for three years.
When officers arrived at the petrol station, they discovered the dead infant in the bag inside the dumpster. The baby’s cause of death has not been made public by the authorities.
According to the complaint, surveillance footage showed a man who matched Boothe’s description pull up in a dark Infiniti SUV, proceed to the dumpster, and discard a black plastic bag.

When police found Boothe, he allegedly acknowledged taking the child from her house and bringing her to his. Prior to the indictment last week, Boothe was initially charged with mistreatment of a body. Police have not made information on the prostitution and trafficking charges public.
On a $1.25 million bond, Boothe is still being held at the Shelby County Jail.
